Much like bad weather hit the northwest the night before, the home side overwhelmed United away at the their home ground. It was a result that truly announced their championship potential as they strengthened their standing at the top of the table.

Consecutive Defeats for United

This result signalled successive WSL setbacks for Marc Skinner’s side for the first time since spring 2024, placing them a significant margin off the league leaders with their championship aspirations in serious doubt.

Manchester United's capacity to juggle league and continental soccer with a small roster has been a widely debated subject since they qualified for the European competition.
